Frankly, I'm surprised at how few incidents occur with Google Chrome. The parent network consists of over 350 thousand servers! As a retired IT professional, I am overwhelmed with their capacity for solving even minor problems from a global perspective. However, I understand that means little to the end users. No one has more problems with it than I. But after having used IE since its inception and having watched it become cumbersome and unwieldy, it can be expected that with success, Google can only succumb to the same fate.

Apostrophe shows in this app as "hat-a" in chrome and firefox with any character encoding I select. The NYT home page shows apostrophe correctly. Very annoying. Can it be corrected?

Couldn't agree more with last comment. Other than a straight search, I'm new to Google and I must say what a disappointment it is. Navigation is difficult, functional issues abound, very frustrating. I will be looking for alternatives asap.

Till now I thought the problem was with my ISP as I've been having a lot of speed issues and thought it just wasn't loading with everything else, and refreshing over and over didn't bring it in, so I thought it was my computer(so much in fact, I've been comparison shopping for a faster processor!) I'm glad to see it isn't my ISP or my computer, but it saddens me to no end to see that iGoogle isn't doing anything about it, or so it seems. So, along with everyone else..MAKE IT WORK OR DROP IT!!!

My NYT Top Stories gadget didn't work for several days. As alternatives I loaded two other Times services: Home Page (mainly headlines from the day's front page) and Tabbed News (showing several departments under tab headings: Sports, U.S., etc.). Home Page works fine. As for the Tabbed News -- listen up, Times editor -- I feel tenuous about it. At the bottom of every department listings is a notice that says "The web page cannot." The line doesn't respond to clicking, so I don't know what the web page cannot do. Please, NYT editor, either delete it or make it work.

I see the earliest comment shown about top stories not working is Oct. 29 but it's been out of commission quite a bit longer than that. I periodically delete it and add it again to see if maybe it's back. If it's not going to be fixed, I think the "third party" should delete it as an option. Who is the mysterious "third party" anyway? Nice way for Google to get themselves out of gadget problems. You'd think they would be the ones to contact the third party and say "hey - fix it or get out".
