Eland (not a moose but the largest antelope)

A number of years ago in South Africa this beautiful animal observed me. In Dutch a moose is called an eland. In South Africa the largest antelope is also called an eland.

Thank you. Drawings of this animal are found in ancient rock art in South Africa. The eland was sacred to the San people and has been hunted for meat by many peoples. Today it is sometimes farmed. This one I encountered at a game reserve I visited.

Beautiful shot. It's not often one sees images of eland on photography forums.
Bedankt Koos. You are right, and I don't know why. They may not capture our imagination as bears, lions or eagles do, but in my view they have an almost regal quality to them. Thanks for watching.
