Tuna, Flounder, Sea Bass, Rock, Blues and A Great White Shark

Tuna, Flounder, Sea Bass, Rock, Blues and A Great White Shark

Absolutely beautiful day to be on the water today with light winds, sunny skies and temps in the upper 70s and 80s!  Kristen and I even got on the bay this evening, and though we didn’t catch much we still had a great time enjoying this wonderful place we call home.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler had a great day with the sea bass today with the Hovnanian Homes group, and he got a sick shot of a great white shark cruising nearby with the drone!

Big Bird Cropper and Shaun Flaherty were harassing the local fish population again today and a couple of them paid with there lives.  Bird and Shaun had a 34″ rockfish that was released, a big bluefish and a nice keeper flounder.  Most of the fish bit on Roy Rigs.

Captain Chris Watkowski and mate Chase Porter put their anglers on a couple of keeper yellowfin tuna on today’s offshore trip.

Kevin McNelis was fishing with his dad over ocean structure today when they landed some flounder up to 20″ and some nice triggerfish.

Jason Sutton and Gary Fischer had a busy day catching some sea bass, some sea robins and some keeper flounder up to 22″ on the ocean today.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star enjoyed good fishing on today’s “calm, but confused sea.”

Sea bass 6/15/23 A small boat mariner might have called today’s seas ‘calm but confused’ & just that too. Hardly a breath of air but noticeable swells coming at us from every direction save west. Rock’n Roll! Ah well. ‘Twas more enjoyable than yesterday’s “5 to 10 knot” winds for sure. (Actually 18 all morning come 20 to 25 in the afternoon!) Long time OCRF sponsor, Shelly, and friend Steve surrendered today’s reef blocks to the sea atop Al Berger’s Reef. That reef looks good too. I anticipate plenty of beneficial growth such as sea whip on it.  Once deployed we were underway a while more before getting our lines wet.. Mike from Pasadena took today’s pool money. Never did find a ‘hot spot’. Kept grinding away though. Nick one, pick one – time to get underway for home? NaaaMate, Keep Fishing. Time to BE home? Ah well, reckon we’d best wind em up & head ‘er for the barn..About a job today. Hope we got em all dinner. Really hope fluke come on. Catch a pair or so most days. They saved us big time in the 2007/8 sea bass decline. I sure hope we can get the little fellows spawning at the (sea) Bass Grounds. . . More on that soon. Cheers, Monty
