Panorama Route is one of the most famous routes in South Africa. With dozens of breathtaking viewpoints between Sabie, Graskop and the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. Most of the viewpoints lie along the R532. God’s window is being highlighted everywhere on the internet. In half of the cases, an image of the Blyde river canyon viewpoint is used and not the view of God’s window itself!
Let’s make this clear once and for all!
What is God’s window?
Gods Window is located close to Graskop on the R534, along with The Pinnacle. At a height of 800 meters you have a view over the Lowveld. So no impressive mountain ranges or rock formations! These can be found at the Blyde River Canyon, which is also the largest green canyon in the world!
God’s window is not that impressive so do not be mistaken with the images of the Blyde river canyon viewpoint! You are NOT going to find this on God’s window!
God’s window is not recommended as a viewpoint.
Blyde river canyon viewpoint
If you are searching in Google for ‘Panorama route’ or ‘God’s Window’, you will often see an image of the Blyde River Canyon, which is very confusing! Blyde River Canyon viewpoint is certainly worth the effort and one of our highlights of the entire Panorama route!
How to get there?
This viewpoint is actually at the same location as the ‘Three Roundavels’. The best thing to do is driving to Three Roundavels, which is also a known viewpoint along the R532 in Google. There are parking spots and some ‘little shops’ where you can buy a souvenir.
At the Three Roudavels is one path that goes to the right towards the viewpoint of the Three Roudavels and another one that goes left. The path to the left ends at the beautiful viewpoint of Blyde river Canyon.
Opening hours
