Writing a magazine

In groups of four, write a magazine in English. Decide the format and appearance, decide the title too, include only the parts you prefer but it must contain all the following compulsory sections which are underlined. Add others if you want to. Remember that your magazines will be read by everyone in the class afterwards. Also some of your articles may be included in the school magazine or the school website. Front Page or Cover The first page of a magazine includes the title, all the publication information, the index, and the main stories that will capture the most attention. The front page should include the publication information under the name of the paper. This information includes the date, volume number, and price. News Articles A news article is a report on an event that has taken place. Articles may include a byline, body text, photo, and caption. Article (Maths class) Articles deal with an issue, person, event with added depth and more background details. International News (History class) This section contains news about other countries. Such things as relationships between two or more countries, political news, information about wars, disasters, or


other events that impact the world in some way. Advertisements Advertise a real or fictional product, but you mustn't copy and paste one. Be creative Entertainment, Sports or Lifestyle (physical education) This section often offers interviews of popular people, sport events or artists. French corner (French class) This section includes crosswords, word searches, or any other games using the French language. Book review (English class) Write about a book you have read recently. Cartoons They offer an opinion and give a message about an important topic using pictures Letters to the Editor These are letters sent from readers to a newspaper, usually in response to an article or piece of news Remember no points will be given for copied and pasted parts. STEPS TO CREATE YOUR MAGAZINE

! Magazines must have front and back cover. Cover page must have title of magazine, author, and names of featured articles. ! Cover and back pages must be illustrated. ! It must have table of contents page with article and page number. ! Each section must include topic and authors byline and should be a minimum of two (2) paragraphs long. A byline appears at the beginning of an article and gives the writer's name. You must clearly identify the parts you have written. However, add the names of the writers at the end of the paper, too. Also explain who added the pictures and where you took the information from. ! Magazine can include poetry, interviews, short story, music or movie reviews, advice columns, puzzles, riddles, jokes (no inappropriate jokes ), recipes, fashion, etc.


! Magazine must be a minimum of 10 pages and no more than 15 pages in length, including advertisements, and front and back pages. ! Make your magazine using WORD or any other word processor. ! Save your document as a PDF when is finished. ! Upload your PDF to http://issuu.com ! Create a file with google Drive and share it to the following email fjbilingue@gmail.com with your magazine before the 0.00 hours 23rd November 2015.
