FAQS >

The Details

Jacaranda mini-session photoshoots typically take place during the month of October. The final dates depend on the weather - the temperature and rainfall during August and September influence how long the Jacarandas flower for and how many blooms there are on the trees. The trees are best on average about for about three weeks, and you don't want to miss out!

You have the option to select your preferred date and time, as well as a back-up date and time, to allow for these seasonal fluctuations. If you would like to do a full photo shoot with the Jacarandas, please also indicate this when signing up.

To secure your Jacaranda photoshoot, a signed contract and payment in full at least 7 days prior to the shoot is required (see also the FAQs section below)

Have Questions about your jacaranda mini-session? here are the Answers

Common FAQs

Q: WHAT DATES DO YOU HAVE AVAILABLE?

A: Typically, the first and third weekends in October are allocated to Jacaranda-themed photoshoots. Full sessions are available too, depending on availability. The final time slots are released mid-to-end-September.

Q: WHERE DO THE JACARANDA SHOOTS TAKE PLACE?

A: Depending on the season, the locations I use for the Jacaranda photoshoots are around Johannesburg North and Central, typically the areas of Rosebank, Greenside, Linden, Westcliff and/or Houghton. The chosen location depends on where the best blooms are located that particular season.

Q: how long is the shoot? what happens if i run late?

A: The time-slot for each Jacaranda mini-session is a maximum of 30 minutes, with an average of 20 minutes shooting time. As there will likely be sessions after yours, your session time cannot be extended if you run late, and you will only have the session time remaining in which to shoot.

Q: WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

A: Each year I set aside a "rain day" as a back-up date. If you are unable to make it on the back-up day, or if it rains a second time, you can transfer your booking to another themed mini-session (e.g. Cosmos or Christmas minis) or use your payment towards any full photoshoot of your choice.

Q: how many images do i receive?

A: Your selection gallery includes 20 to 30 images, 5 are included in your booking. Additional images from the gallery can be purchased at R100 each and a discount applies if you would like to purchase the whole gallery.

Q: what is the booking process?

A: By signing up to the mini-sessions, you'll be sent a short questionnaire to be completed. Here is where you can choose a preferred date and time for your shoot, as well as letting me know who will be attending the session. You'll be sent a formal quote to be approved as well as your contract for signature. Both a signed contract and payment in full secure your booking. Mini-sessions sell out quickly, and no dates will be reserved without payment. The final time slot options are released mid-September.

more about me >

I'm a professional photographer in Johannesburg with 15 years experience photographing portraits and weddings. I'm inspired by travel, nature, history and art; fuelled by tea (lots of tea!); and above all: love being able to capture stories through my photography.

Over the last decade (and a half) I've photographed weddings and portraits across South Africa. My work has been featured locally in the Top Vendor Wedding Awards, and internationally in the Prowed Awards and The Portrait Masters.

My clients are the ones who laugh louder and hug tighter. Who jump in puddles and dance in the rain. Who go adventuring with mud on their boots and "padkos" for the road trip. Who love the rumble of thunderstorms after a hot Highveld summer's day.

If that sounds like you, you're in the right place! I'm so excited you're here and I can't wait to hear from you.
