Cowboy Hoops: Bryce Thompson to announce transfer decision on Thursday

Oklahoma State makes the final three with Oklahoma and Tulsa

Ever since former five-star Bryce Thompson announced his decision to leave Kansas and enter the transfer portal back in April, Oklahoma State fans have been eagerly awaiting his decision.

Well, the wait is almost over.

Thompson posted Wednesday on his Instagram account that he will announce his next destination at noon on Thursday, with a final-three of Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and Tulsa.

The former Booker T. Washington star has had plenty of interest in where he will end up in the state of Oklahoma, with OSU and Tulsa seeming like the most likely landing spots.

The Cowboys were close to landing Thompson the first time around. Boynton’s squad made the final four along with Kansas, Oklahoma and North Carolina.

Thompson was the No. 21 recruit in all of the 2020 class, and the highest-rated prospect in the state in the last decade according to 247Sports.

During his freshman season at KU, Thompson played in 20 games — including starting in four —and averaged 4.6 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists a game.

If you’re looking for a reason to believe that Oklahoma State will be the landing spot, then look no further than a Tweet by Coach Boynton himself from earlier in the week, that included “That won’t be the only great thing to happen to @OSUMBB this week.”
