KOR – Dongbu leave KCC Egis beaten and bruised

SEOUL (KBL) - Veteran Kim Joo-Sung powered his way to another vintage showing and led Dongbu Promy to 62-54 win over KCC Egis in Game 3 of the 2011 KBL Finals.

The defeat saw KCC fall 2-1 down in the best-of-seven series, but their hopes were dashed further as two of their regular starters suffered injuries in the game and their participation in the remainder of the championship series is doubtful.

Chon Tae-Pong injured his ankle in the second quarter and even though he returned later in the game, he looked in pain and not his usual self. The 31-year-old guard had averaged 12.4 points per game before Wednesday.

Also banged up was forward Kang Eun-Sik, who suffered a leg injury and had to be carried off in a stretcher after 31 minutes. Kang was a vital element in KCC Egis’ defense.

Kim (pictured), for his part, went about his business with clock-work professionalism.

One of the most experienced players in the KBL, the 32-year-old had already stamped his class on the Finals scoring game-highs in the first two games.

On Wednesday, the former Korea international was in his elements once again leading all scorers with 20 points and added five rebounds and four assists to add value to his presence.

Yoon Ho-Young added 16 points and nine boards in the winning effort while American Rod Benson went for 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Chris Daniels was the only KCC Egis player in double-digits with with 18 points as giant center Ha Seung-jin was held to just eight points.

Game 4 is scheduled for Friday.
