Curtis Henry Payne, 56, of Toccoa, died Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, at Stephens County Hospital.
The son of the late Woodrow Richard and Catherine Shirley Payne, he was born Feb. 10, 1949, in Stephens County where he lived all his life. He was the owner and operator of Payne's Heating and Cooling Company for a number of years and was an engineer at Stephens County Hospital for 10 years. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He was a member and past master of the Masonic Lodge 309 and was a member of the Toccoa Shrine Club.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Stowe and Fannie Garrison; and, a brother, Herman Payne.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 17, at 5 p.m. from the Hillcrest Chapel of Acree-Davis Funeral Home. The Rev. Johnny Thomas and Rev. Dennis Rafala will officiate.
Interment will be in Stephens Memorial Gardens with Warren Wilkinson officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Dale Garland Payne of the home; a son, Brad Payne, and his wife, Tracy Payne, of Toccoa; daughter, Tammy Payne, daughter, Kellie Ivester, and her husband, Buzzy Ivester; daughter, Catherine McCroskey, and her husband, Tracy McCroskey, all of Toccoa; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Donald Payne, and his wife, Sarah Nell Payne, of Toccoa; brother, Charles Payne, and his wife, Dottie Payne, of Carnesville; sister, Cleo Addis of Toccoa; brother-in-law, Kimsey Stowe of Toccoa; and, father-in-law, Dewey Garland of Toccoa. He also is survived by his former wife, Ellen Fletcher Woodall.
Pallbearers will be Kimsey Stowe, Marty Garrison, Brian Smith, Scotty Castell, Tim Ledford and Randy Shirley.
