Cape of Good Hope and Cape Point

About a one-and-half hour car journey to the south from Cape Town, is Cape of Good Hope- a rocky headland on the Atlantic Ocean, situated on the coast of Cape Peninsula. This peninsula forms the western boundary of False Bay.

Cape of Good Hope is not the most southern part of South Africa. The dividing point between the Atlantic and Indian Oceans is Cape Agulhas, which is about 150 km further south. The currents of the two oceans meet up and fluctuates between Cape Agulhas and Cape Point, which is about 1.2 km from Cape of Good Hope.

Cape of Good Hope is one of the great capes of the South Atlantic Ocean and has long been important to sailors. It is part of Table Mountain National Park together with Cape Point. The view from both capes is simply breath taking.

Among the mammals most intimately associated with Cape of Good Hope are the Chacma baboons, where you can see them roaming freely in the park section of the cape.
