Amalfi Coast

Overview

A balcony overlooking the blue sea

The coastal stretch overlooking the Gulf of Salerno from Positano to Vietri sul Mare is simply magnificent. With its sheer cliffs overhanging the water, tiny bays, and terraces planted with vines, olive and citrus trees, it is clear why the Amalfi Coast is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Your journey begins in Positano, with its colourful little houses and domed, majolica-roofed churches, then you can travel to Amalfi, a former maritime republic and now the jewel of the coast. Be sure to visit the Cathedral and stop for a swim at the small beach at the bottom of the Fiordo di Furore. Atrani, Italy’s smallest town, is just 700 metres from Amalfi, with narrow alleyways and small houses climbing up the hill.

We recommend visiting Villa Cimbrone in Ravello, with its beautiful gardens and the Terrace of Infinity offering spectacular views. Nearby are Maiori and Minori, home to the start of the Sentiero dei Limoni (Lemon Path) and the ruins of a Roman villa.

Vietri sul Mare is known for its beautiful artistic ceramics, while Cetara is a small fishing village that has stood the test of time. Hiking enthusiasts will love the Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods), connecting Agerola and Positano.
