Sue Sylvester’s Glee Family Creates Real-Life Ties

On the Sept. 13 episode of Glee, fans met Sue Sylvester’s daughter, Robin, for the first time—but the far more poignant introduction occurred off camera the week before, when Robin Trocki, 55—the actress with Down syndrome who played Sue’s sister, Jean, in seasons 1 and 2—got to meet her tiny namesake. Gail Williamson of the advocacy group Down Syndrome in Arts & Media arranged the meeting with 9-month-old Jordyn Orr (who also has Down syndrome), because Trocki has advanced Alzheimer’s and is expected to forget her role on the Fox hit. “When Robin saw the baby, she said, ‘I’m your auntie,’” recalls Williamson, “because she would be if she were still on the show.”
