Celebrity news of the week: everyone is on holiday! And Kate Moss is doing an exceedingly good job of being in St Tropez. The model is on the French Riviera with Sadie Frost (who else?) and has been executing yacht-to-jetty fashion like a seasoned professional.

The biggest style broadcast to ripple across the Channel? Nothing has changed about Moss’s holiday wardrobe since she began summering in St Tropez in the early Noughts. The Vogue contributing editor’s packing list has three key categories: a series of sun dresses, with a classic designer bag and a pair of flats to accompany each. It's hand luggage only for Moss, who wears enough gold jewellery to see her through the entire trip.

This year, it so happens that the bag is a classic quilted Chanel bag and the flats are black ballet pumps (Repetto is usually her brand of choice) to complement a series of black minis; ranging from belted and boho, to halter-neck and remarkably similar to the Saint Laurent number she wore to the 2018 Met Gala (minus the feathers).

As the days roll on and more friends join the twosome (Frost’s boyfriend Darren Stowger and Lady Mary Charteris have made appearances so far) beach cover-ups have been thrown into Moss’s mix, along with sandals and totes. For a spot of port-side strolling, she plumped for a pink cotton maxi that had a throw-on feel owing to the rolled-up sleeves and billowing hem, followed by a muted Kalita strappy slip with a similarly voluminous silhouette. Both were paired with trusty metallic Ancient Greek sandals and a roomy black carry-all.

The underlying message on Moss’s postcard from France: uncomplicated basics make for high-flying resortwear you can wear holiday after holiday. As Edward Enninful said in his May 2019 editor’s letter, which had his friend on the cover, “Kate has the best taste”, but people are attracted to “the way she [wears] the clothes.” Vacations, primarily, are about wearing what you feel good in – and Moss figured that out aeons ago.

Giving good yacht-to-jetty looks in St Tropez is Kate Moss, whose French Riviera style hasn’t changed since she began holidaying there in the early Noughts. Who else could switch between voluminous pastel maxis and thigh-skimming black minis with the insouciance of a deft traveller with approximately 10 items in her (carry-on) suitcase? Sienna Miller has also been photographed wearing mostly brandless black swimwear as she and boyfriend Lucas Zwirner splash around the marina unbothered by the A-list meet-ups that await them in the town.Mega
