LA’s Legendary Randy’s Donuts Could Come to San Diego

Established in 1953, Randy’s Donuts, located near the Los Angeles International Airport, is one of the world’s most recognizable doughnut shops, thanks to the giant doughnut on its rooftop and appearances in movies including Earth Girls Are Easy, Mars Attacks!, and Iron Man. In the last year, the shop has been steadily growing its footprint in the Los Angeles area and the brand seems poised to go national.

Randy’s Donuts president Mark Kelegian told Eater LA that the company is actively seeking locations across the country. So might that expansion include San Diego? Kelegian says yes, telling Eater San Diego that the company is looking at sites but have not committed to any at this time. Randy’s original Inglewood shop, which consistently draws crowds, is open 24 hours; they still make all of their doughnuts by hand, offering over 35 varieties priced from 95 cents to $1.35. And you won’t find any far-out flavors on the menu, which sticks to tried-and-true classics ranging from glazed buttermilk bars and chocolate old fashioned to apple fritters and cinnamon rolls.
