It was a moment that summed up everything we knew about Liverpool striker Sadio Mane - but the Senegalese striker didn't want it seem at all.

In September footage emerged of the frontman cleaning mosque toilets hours after scoring against Leicester in the Premier League.

It reinforced how kind and down to earth the 26-year-old Muslim is.

But ahead of Liverpool's clash with PSG on the in-form striker has explained all about the video - including the fact he wanted it to remain private.

“I am a Muslim, I pray five times a day and, as soon as I can, I do it at the mosque," he told L'Equipe.

"Once I went there, and when there I found a very good friend, a Ghanaian.

"I invited him to drink some tea at home after the prayer and he said, ‘No, I have to work, I have to wash the mosque’s toilets.’

“I told him we were going to do it together. At the moment somebody filmed us and I asked he not put it online.

"He swore he wouldn’t do it and the next day it was on the internet. Well, it’s not very serious…”

In the video Mane fills a bucket with water while a young boy uses a pressure washer on the floor.

Social media users have claimed the footage was shot at the Al-Rahma Mosque where Mane visits regularly, in Mulgrave Street, Liverpool.

After each of his goals the 26-year-old touches his head on the turf and prays - better known as the sujood.

The Reds forward is known for his humble gestures, having donated £200,000 towards the building of a school in his village of Bambaly, Senegal.

"It's an initiative that is close to my heart, he told the Liverpool Echo last April.

"It's something that I am very happy to do. It's important to help people.

"They approached me about the initiative, and it became clear I was maybe the right person to help.

"When they told me about it, I was very, very happy to help out. I'm looking forward to doing my bit."
