Despite the flashy, eye-catching prints spotted all over Paris Fashion Week, it’s safe to say minimalist style is also having a moment. In Milan, minimalism ruled both on and off the runways, where gaggles of street style stars, models, and collections took to clean shapes and muted colors, avoided statement accessories, and put simplicity first.

This fall, there are plenty of reasons to want to dress in realistic, uncomplicated everyday clothes and accessories. For one, it makes getting dressed in the morning easier and less time consuming, while still providing an incredibly chic daily look. Though when it comes to this style approach—whether that means sticking to one color palette, only shopping for investment pieces, or even creating a wardrobe with key timeless pieces on rotation—there are a few fall trends even the most minimal of minimalists can’t pass up. From square toe boots, to utility jumpsuits, to elevated knits, shop five fall trends minimalists are loving this season.

Square Toes

Sleek flat boots and leather mules are typically as minimal as they get, but add an on-trend square toe, and you have a fall shoe trend even minimalists will find irresistible.

Silhouetted Sweaters

A two-step sweater and jeans outfit seems simple enough, but this season’s crop of new knit silhouettes take the look to the next level. From baggy short sleeve versions to cashmeres with additional drapes, asymmetrical hems, and cape-like shapes, reconsider the boring crew neck sweater for something with a “less is more” personality instead.

All You Need is One: Utility Jumpsuits

There’s nothing more minimal than wearing one garment, and one garment only. One-step dressing makes looking chic simpler than ever, and boiler suits dip effortlessly into the utility trend without even trying.

Squish-able Pillow Bags

Oversized pouches have captured the hearts of minimalists from New York to Paris. The buttery, squish-able puffs of luxe leather have pretty much no visible added details: no straps, no zippers, no pockets, or flaps complete with hidden closures. You couldn't attend a single fashion week this month without spotting one of these bags on the street, deeming it one of the most desired (and coincidentally minimal) accessory trends of the season.

Structured Knits

Tighter, structural knits are trending this fall too, tapping into a minimalist dream of finer scoop and wide square necklines. Styles include solid neutral colors with often overlooked details like contrast stitching, a single pearl embellishment, a slight puffed sleeve, and cinched cuffs.
