he Samsung 960 PRO NVMe SSD is an absolute monster when it comes to speed and storage performance. Samsung continues to make great solid storage, but I did knock off one star as they have had some issues with TRIM working appropriately. That has all been rectified, so I wouldn't be too concerned when picking one of these up. It will read/write data super fast and also make your apps/games load much, much faster. Mechanical drives are still king for storage capacity, but nothing beats NVME storage for pure speed throughput, and I would not hesitate to recommend this drive.
Fast, Stable, Stays Cool

It does what it is intended to do. There currently is no software that will enhance it's performance like the 2.5" predecessors as of yet. I wasn't expecting it yet either. I just hope that in the future, as tech improves, this module doesn't become obsolete so quickly considering the price of these sticks at the moment. Place your SSD in an open area on your mobo for cooling, if possible. It was running warm at 55 & 56C mounted under my GTX 1080 FTW2. I replaced it on the lower m2 socket on my z270 FTW K. It now runs at a solid 38C under fairly moderate load. At least a 16 Degree Difference! The copper film label has definitely improved the temperature on these modules. I use my PC as a work and gaming rig. Photoshop CC 3D rendering is probably the most tasking software I use besides gaming. The Witcher 3, Squad, Mass Effect Andromida, Scrap Mechanic, Elite Dangerous Horizons, Rise of the Tomb Raider and The Division all load, AT THE LEAST, twice as fast, compaired to my previous set-up (i7 4790k CPU - z97 mobo - 16GB DDR3 2400Mhz RAM - 500GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD and GTX 970FTW.) Current Machine For Refference: -Z270 FTW K Mobo -32 GB DDR4 2666Mhz RAM Dual Channel -i7 7700K CPU @ 4.2Ghz w/Cryorig H7 and 2 Corsair Maglev 120mm Fans (Mobo Curved on Push-Pull Config) -GTX 1080 FTW2 running twin 27" monitors -Rosewell ATX MidTower Gaming Case with 2 Corsair MagLev 120mm Intake Fans (75% Mobo PWM) / 2 Corsair MagLev 120mm Exhaust Fans (75% Mobo PWM) -750W G2 PSU Gold Plus EVGA w/clean cable management -Room Temp between 22-23C
Super Fast NVMe Gum Stick!

Coming from Samsung 950 Pro 512GB, NVMe SSD is a huge game changer! It install patches so much faster than SATA SSD/HDD. Yes unfortunately, boot time and game loading time is quite similar with SATA SSD. But someday in the future, game developer will improve the overall game engine architecture to take more advantage of NVMe based SSDs to load games faster. When it comes down to emulation, NVMe SSD greatly impacts read/write performance which made the game feel more responsive and less likely cause the game to dip framerate, compared to SATA SSD. Video editing, on the other hand, drastically saves enormous time to get the video encoding process done as quickly as possible. Nonetheless, time is money! If you're someone who wants to experience NVMe SSD that offers low-latency performance at higher price point, then this is a perfect drive for you. If, however, you're concerned about boot time but wants to have more capacity, then SATA/AHCI SSD like Samsung 850 Pro 2TB, for example is a better choice for someone who is struggling with their budget. All in all, I'm extremely happy with Samsung 960 Pro NVMe SSD, and I was one of the few very lucky people on launch date that bought 960 Pro on Newegg right before it went out of stock!
Crazy Fast!

Using the 960 Pro SSD with my Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero Alpha motherboard. Blistering fast speed, especially compared to the mechanical drive this replaced. It was a fast drive (10,000 RPM Velociraptor), but a mechanical drive nonetheless. Had to install the Samsung NVMe driver for Windows 10 and manually upgrade Samsung Magician software to version 5. Had Magician version 4.7 installed and when clicking on the check for updates button it said I had the latest version. Wrong. Had to download it from Samsung's website. (Also had to disable RAPID mode (in Magician) on my Samsung 950 EVO boot drive (which requires a reboot) before I could upgrade the Magician software, and then re-enabled it after the upgrade.) I am using the 960 Pro as my primary data drive. Benchmark shows I'm getting an amazing 3.479 GB/s Read and 2.155 GB/s Write speeds. DCS (Digital Combat Simulator) went from taking 55 seconds to load to 7 seconds. GTA 5 load time went from 2:20 to 1:15, Doom went from 2:11 to 43 seconds, Vanishing of Nathan Carter went from 1:16 to 23 seconds and the list goes on. I was actually torn between getting the 960 EVO and the Pro and ultimately went with the Pro because of the five-year warranty. If you have the money, and you're upgrading from just about anything under a 950 Pro, this is the drive to get!
