[Rewarded Review] Like a smart phone for your house
SusieAVA· Review provided by amazon.com · August 16, 2021
I got this for my bedroom mainly to use as an alarm and to control by bedside lamp. It does a great job for that but it is also great for weather reports, checking in on relatives that also have an echo device, and even calling my phone so I can find it in the house. I can call other people too, whether they have an echo or not - all by voice commands. I am going to get another one for the kitchen to have one in a main area in the house and another one for the basement- then I can keep track of what’s going on with the drop in feature - mainly to announce dinner is ready. I can group speakers so that if I want to play music throughout the house I can easily do that. It was very easy to set up and I was able to use it within five minutes of opening the box. A great device that really is like a smart phone for your house.
[Rewarded Review] Good product, inexpensive and lots of features.

Great product, worth the purchase price. This thing is super easy to install. Its possible downside is that it requires a wired connection and disables your existing chime. In both case, it fits what I want, since I didn't want a battery that I'd have to recharge / replace, and the chime in my house causes the dog to bark. It's great if you've existing Alexa devices, as they will tell you when someone is there. Even better if one of the Alexas has video screen.

We’ve had this for about 3 years now and for the most part I love it. I like that I’m able to control all of my smart devices from it and can set timers, alarms and listen to music. We haven’t really dove too much into it, just use it for basic things so I can’t really say anything on other aspects of it. The only con I have is that sometimes she doesn’t listen when you say her name, and can take up to 15 times for her to recognize anyone talking to her.

Echo 5 is perfect for video calls. Syncs well with other party -- very few issues with audio/video. While larger screens (ECHO 8 or 10) are great for downloading movies/TV, the camera picks up too many background objects (adding to upload data). This makes it more difficult to keep Echo 8 and 10's synced. Stick with the 5 if video calls are your primary reason for purchase.
