Meet Bill Bailey

The legend, the myth, the soon to be Ballroom dancer!

He may have nearly 30 years of stand-up experience under his belt, but comedy legend Bill Bailey is starting from scratch when it comes to dancing!

ā€œIā€™m very much looking forward to the Latin dances, because I love Latin music, I love the rhythm.ā€

Now a household name of British comedy, his breakthrough came back in 1994 at the Edinburgh Fringe, kickstarting a non-stop chain of success. Bill went on to win a Time Out Award in 1995, a British Comedy Award in 1999 and hit our screens in acclaimed TV series Black Books in 2000.

He then took his place as a team captain on music quiz show Never Mind The Buzzcocks in 2002, and remains a regular on panel shows QI and Have I Got News for You to this day. Not to mention he’s toured the world with thirteen of his own standup shows, bringing his unique mix of comedy and music to millions across the past three decades.

Outside of comedy, Bill’s an animal lover and passionate environmentalist, exploring the theory of evolution in two-part BBC documentary Bill Bailey’s Jungle Hero.

Now he’s about to become our dancing hero as he steps into the Ballroom for his Strictly debut, and he’s particularly excited to get his head (and feet) around one particular style.

“I’m very much looking forward to the Latin dances, because I love Latin music, I love the rhythm,” he said. “I’ve got very, very good legs. They’re very bendy, but I don’t know whether that’s an advantage or disadvantage.”

Bendy legs are always a good thing, Bill. Let’s just wait and see what Craig has to say about them!
