The TV star, who has not been on stage for over 18 months, says he "always has a good time" in the city, especially when he heads out for a post-show pint.

Bill has performed in Hull a number of times, and made his first debut at the Bonus Arena back in 2019.

Speaking exclusively to Hull Live he shares how life away from the stage has been difficult, but he can't wait to get back to performing this December.

He will perform at Bonus Arena on Sunday December 19, and confirmed that Hull has a "great audience", and he "always loves coming here".

The comedian said: "I have always loved Hull. I like going for a post-show pint in the pubs, the pubs are really good there.

"I've had a few wild nights in Hull. I often stay on the south side of the Humber Bridge when I come, and enjoy going for walks along and by the bridge. It's really nice there.

"I did a project with the Maritime museum which involved a local school. That was one of my favourite projects of recent times."

The star hasn't been able to return to the stage due to a number of lockdown and coronavirus restrictions preventing performances.

Bill was set to go on an international tour in Asia, Australia, and Europe, but was left "disappointed" when gigs were cancelled.

During his time away from the stage, the musician and author was able reflect on his previous work to make the next tour the best yet.

He has used his lockdown experiences in his show 'En Rute to Normal'. He recounts his own experiences of dealing with isolation.

Bill said: "I am looking forward to returning to the stage, it will be overwhelming being back. I reckon it will be a strange period of adjustment after being away from gigs for so long.

"During lockdown, all the days were just flowing into one. Every day felt the same. I think it was hard to find motivation and getting a routine in place.

"I looked back at old shows and analysed my material and it helped me bring material together. I looked back at happier times which helped curate the book Happy. I also did the illustrations too so I had time to also illustrate too."
